Are you ready for your greatest smile yet? What you need to know prior to getting your Invisalign® treatment.

Smiling is not merely the flashing of one’s teeth. A smile is a revelation, and it is almost always, if not always, associated with good vibes and positive things.

A person’s smile is very much a form of non-verbal communication. When you smile, you communicate to others what emotion you are feeling; what is going on in your mind. But way before the other person could grasp the meaning of your smile, he or she will first notice your teeth.

One very important factor in achieving an amazing smile has great teeth alignment. Some individuals are born luckier than others with beautiful teeth alignment, but there are many more who seek help correcting theirs. So, if you have crooked teeth and want to have them fixed – you are not alone.

Perhaps the most popular treatment for crooked teeth among orthodontic professionals in Australia is called Invisalign®.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is the newest orthodontic technology to come out specifically to correct your teeth alignment. The Invisalign® treatment is composed of clear plastic aligners that come in a series. They are removable and worn one after the other, designed to move your teeth to the proper position. Each aligner should be worn for a span of two weeks before moving on to the next. You then repeat this process until you are done using the last aligner.

Gone are the days of sitting on your dentist’s chair for long periods of time and having metal attached to each and every tooth, along with succeeding appointments to remove and install rubber bands and for realignment. Another good thing about Invisalign® is that it is designed to make it easier for the wearer to clean his or her teeth. It makes flossing less difficult, if possible, unlike with traditional braces.

Cleaning the aligners is also much easier compared to the old type of braces, where you would be advised to purchase a water pick to make sure you get those food particles – a major cause of bad breath if not removed – out from in between your teeth or metal braces. You simply remove the aligner and brush it with your toothbrush and toothpaste. It is that simple!

What makes Invisalign® so popular with teenagers and adults alike is that it is practically invisible, giving the wearer a more natural look. You also do not have to worry about what you eat. With traditional braces, you have to be conscious of what you eat. You have to avoid hard, crunch foods, sticky and chewy foods, etc.

With Invisalign®, you have the freedom to eat just as you did before getting your aligners. Simply remove your aligners when eating or drinking, and then wear them once you are done. You can also remove your aligners for certain special occasions. You can also remove your aligners to check on the progress yourself. However, it is highly recommended that you wear the aligners for no lesser than 22 hours per day if you wish to achieve the best results.

How to Get Your Invisalign®?

To get your Invisalign®, you need to first consult with your orthodontist. He or she will then inform you if you are eligible for the treatment. If all goes well and you are deemed fit to receive the treatment, the next procedure would be to collect x-rays, photographs, and a digital scan of your teeth. When all these are done, your specialist will then develop a plan focused on the desired alignment.

The data collected will then be sent to Align Technology, where computer-generated 3D imagery is used to manufacture the aligners with very high accuracy. This will ensure that your aligners will fit you well and that shifting your teeth to the correct alignment will be a gradual and smooth process.

When your first set of aligners is ready, your specialist will let you start to wear them. You will need successive visits to your orthodontist to check on your progress and make sure everything is going well. When you are done with the first aligner, your specialist will then give you the next set. This process will go on until the last set of aligners.

All cases of teeth alignment treatment are different. The more severe the misalignment will require a longer period of correction. Your specialist is the best person to inform you how long your treatment will take. But once you start, you will see results in a matter of weeks.

One can not be denied that having a beautiful smile gives you confidence when facing others, whether it be one person or a whole crowd. The world is ready for your beautiful smile.
