5 Tips for Boosting Your Self-Image

If you’re feeling a little low on confidence, then you might be looking for ways you can boost your self-image and reinvent yourself. While confidence is something that comes from within, if you look great then you will feel great too. This article will share a few ways you can give yourself a much-needed boost!

Exercise

An exercise is a wonderful tool that has many benefits. The biggest difficulty is actually getting started. Once you get the exercise bug, many people report it to be addictive. Exercise is going to give you a massive boost in confidence as it is going to help you shape and tone your body and make you look and feel fabulous.

However, exercise is also going to give you a boost in other ways too. Exercise releases endorphins into the brain which are feel-good hormones. It also enhances the mood-boosting chemicals serotonin and dopamine, which last beyond the actual exercise. This means that exercising is going to make you feel good, not only during but after the exercise too, and as you see the long-term body changes occur you’re going to feel even better!

One of the great things about exercise is that there is something for everyone. You don’t have to be a gym bunny to benefit from it. You could try swimming, tennis or even just walking on a beautiful day!

Weight Loss

Many people struggle with their weight, and it can knock down your self-esteem. The most natural way to lose weight is to combine exercise with a nutritional plan that puts you in a calorie deficit. Try not to be too extreme with your diet plan, or you will struggle to stick to it long-term but losing a couple of pounds per week is really going to help you stay focused and look and feel great.

You need to use a calorie deficit calculator to find out how many calories you should consume on a daily basis and then use an app like My Fitness Pal to track the foods you eat and ensure you stay within those limits. There are supplements you can take to aid weight loss; fat binders are a popular option, but you should always consult your physician before starting to take any dietary supplement.

New Wardrobe

Getting a few new items of clothing always makes you feel a little more confident (who doesn’t love some retail therapy right?!) In addition to this, if you learn to dress for your shape, this is going to make you feel even better in the clothes you wear!

There are a number of different body shapes, and there are clothing hacks to suit each individual shape.

The main body shapes are listed below:

Pear – Larger round the legs and hips and smaller on the top.

Athletic/Banana – Similar measurements on the top and bottom of the body (including the waist).

Apple – More volume around the tummy with thinner arms and legs.

Hourglass – Equal size bust and hips with a smaller waist.

And here are a few quick tips on dressing each of these body shapes.

Pear Shapes – draw attention to your top half by wearing patterns and showing cleavage on the top but wearing plainer clothing on the bottom. Also, draw attention to your waist using belts.

Athletic – Athletic shapes can wear most things and look great as they are often the shape of a catwalk model. However, if you do want to add curves, you can add cleavage-enhancing bras and bum-boosting leggings!

Apple – Low necklines are good for apple shapes, as they reduce the appearance of bust size. Flowing dresses with cleavage are a great choice for you.

Hourglass – Hourglass body shapes have an amazing waistline. Pencil skirts and V-neck tops always look fabulous for a classic look. Accentuate your waist with high-waisted jeans also.

Makeover

Sometimes, having a little pampering is all you need to give yourself a self-esteem boost. Treat yourself to a spa day, and have a facial, waxing, and massage. Then head to your hair salon for a fabulous cut and color. If you really want to make a splash, you can also get your makeup done. Giving yourself a makeover like this is guaranteed to give you that confidence boosts you searching for and allows you some time to relax and unwind too!

Surgery/Cosmetic Procedures

Sometimes, all of the natural things we try just aren’t enough and if you have a certain body part that you are particularly unhappy with then thinking about cosmetic procedures may be an option for you. Luckily, with enhancements in today’s cosmetic technology, not all procedures are invasive or surgical.

An example of this is non-surgical fat reduction where fat is essentially frozen and dispersed by the body. Having these treatments could be a great way to boost your self-esteem and make you feel more confident in your own skin.

There are many ways to give yourself a confidence boost and sometimes it’s something as simple as a haircut, but if you do feel like you need an extra boost, then cosmetic procedures are also an option.
